Employment Law Alert – April 2019

    By Labor & Employment

On April 18, 2019, the K&C Employment Team will present the 35th Annual Employment Law Update at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. Last year’s luncheon speaker, Mauricio Velasquez, was so popular that he was invited back as a presenter for the upcoming Richmond showing. Mauricio will present two new topics that should help HR professionals deal with cyber-bullying and enhance HR’s role as a change agent for most organizations. HR professionals in attendance can earn up to 6 credit hours toward PHR and SPHR recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) and 5 PDCs toward SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.

This year’s luncheon speaker will be “Top Gun” employee lawyer David Simonsen, who will provide his candid views about how he chooses the employers that he sues. In keeping with the program’s social media theme, the seminar will include an entertaining/educational mock scenario featuring HR’s reaction to problem employee “Antoine Merriweather” and his inadvertent disclosure of confidential information to a cyber-criminal.

In addition, representatives from key employment agencies will be participating, including Acting EEOC District Director Thomas M. Colclough, who will provide attendees with an “insider’s view” on what to expect from the EEOC in the coming year. Attendees will be able to choose from a number of relevant topics throughout the day and the ever popular “Answer Booth” will be available for attendees to have all of their employment law questions answered by the specialists. Finally, one lucky attendee will win an Apple iPad Wi-Fi 32 GB at the end of the day. To register, visit www.kaufcan.com/events or call 757.624.3232. To view the brochure, click here.
